I have recently witnessed firsthand how someone’s life is affected when the most important section of our bodies- our middle- has forgotten how to work. There is lots of talk going through the fitness industry about working the ‘core’, yet there seems to be a limited understanding of what that really means.
I know for myself, because I thought I had it nailed. Then I went to the next level Russian Kettlebell Certification course where my understanding deepened substantially. How much is everything interconnected.
From the seemingly insignificant kneeling on two knees to standing up- if the middle is not switching on the way it should it is virtually impossible to bring one leg forward to make stepping up without hands possible. Even walking in a fluid fashion is affected without proper use of our midsection. Balance is another faculty that is severely compromised and not to mention the frequent presence of back pain. And the saddest bit is that we all once had our middle working automatically for everything that we ever did. Through our lifestyle of sitting at every opportunity we have slowly taught our midsection that it isn’t really required for the job at hand.
In the RKC system we learn a bundle of drills to help you to reconnect to your core.
